Mascara brush – which to choose?
For most of us, the shape of the brush is important when choosing a good mascara. In fact, there are as many shapes as brands on the market. Also, the material from which it is made is essential. In general, the best are silicone ones, because they are very durable and can easily be washed and kept clean. And what’s the most interesting, the silicone wands enable a very precise make-up.
Types of mascara wands
- Comb brush – the best for short and thin eyelashes, it optically lengthens them reaching even the shortest hairs.
- Rubber, long brush – designed to maximize lash length.
- Tapered brush – used to curl eyelashes at the corners of the eyes. It usually reaches places that a classic brush would not be able to reach.
- Curved brush with bristles of different length – it is best for the owners of straight eyelashes that need curling. It’s possible to apply a few layers with this brush, that’s why it’s best to choose a waterproof mascara.
- Ball brush – this kind of brush enables you to reach even the shortest lashes. Such an applicator can be used from any angle.
- Micro brush – recommended for people with short eyelashes. With this brush a precise application is possible.
- Oversize brush – it thickens and adds volume. It keeps a very large amount of formula on it, thanks to which you can you cover your eyelashes with just one stroke.
- Flat brush with a classic shape – it separates the lashes well. It does not leave any clumps and the lashes are fully covered.
- Bristle brush with a classic shape – it’s best for women with sensitive eyes and the skin around the eyes. Even though it does not separate the eyelashes precisely, it thickens and adds volume.
Lash styling wands
You can buy special brushes for styling, separating and combing eyelashes. They usually have a classic shape and a long handle; there are also some equipped with a comb. Typically, such applicators are used in beauty salons, but, in fact, any woman can use them during make-up. They can be used to: clean the mascara brush that is used every day, to separate coated lashes, to apply henna or mascara.
Mascara brush – cleaning
To make the mascara last as long as possible, it is important to regularly clean the applicator. The remains of a dried cosmetic, pieces of broken eyelashes, various types of impurities get accumulated between the bristles. Therefore, at least once a week it is good to clean the brush with warm water, two-phase make-up remover or special products designed for this type of task.
