RECIPE FOR AN IDEAL MASCARA

A suitable formula and applicator – a duet for the special tasks.

1 – SPIRAL WAND

The first thing that we pay attention to. The basic division mentions mascaras with silicone or nylon applicators. Mascaras have had nylon bristles for decades so lots of them have such wands. Today, silicone brushes are in; they:

  • match the eye shape better,
  • are made from the hypoallergenic material,
  • are more durable, despite the higher elasticity,
  • coat lashes gently, not irritating the skin,
  • are better at spreading the mascara on lashes.

Obviously, mascaras can have applicators of different shapes. Still, we should be faithful to traditional solutions here. Cone or ball shapes of applicators are not comfy. Let’s choose mascaras which have classic spirals – with slightly narrowed tips and symmetrically-arranged bristles. The bristles can have different sizes and thickness but they shouldn’t be too thick or too thin. Actually, it is the size and shape of a brush which decides on how easily and quickly you can coat lashes and what the effect is.

2 – FORMULA

We tend to neglect the composition of a mascara – it seems like an incomprehensible piece of information written in a foreign language. Not looking at the INCI, we unconsciously apply lots of chemicals to our lashes: parabens, artificial colorants, substances which improve the consistency, petroleum derivatives and alcohols. A mascara without harmful ingredients would be an ideal – a natural, lash-enhancing mascara.

You should surely take a look at the list of ingredients and search for:

  • Oryza Sativa Cera – a rice wax which protects, nourishes, smoothes and adds shine, as well as keeps the formula durable;
  • Iron Oxides – a natural mineral which plays the role of a pigment and conditions lashes;
  • Panthenol – pro-vitamin B5 which has incredible conditioning properties: delivers elasticity and shine, boosts moisture and smoothes;
  • Arginine – a natural amino acid which reinforces and lets the mascara condition eyelashes because it improves the absorption of nutrients;
  • Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract – Baicalin Extract which is a natural UV filter and antiaging substance;
  • Tocopheryl Acetate – vitamin E which is said to be the vitamin of youthfulness, facilitating the processes in cells;
  • Hydrolyzed Silk – a natural protein which enhances, rebuilds and protects lashes e.g. from losing moisture.
